Debbie and Matt had chosen beautiful burnt reds and ivory colours for their flowers for their wedding at The Hospitium, York. The pillars in The Hospitium Ceremony Room were decorated much fuller than usual with foliage including French Ruscus, Ruscus, Salal and Pistache and then flowers and fairy lights mingled in between. They looked great - really lush and full.
Debbie had provided us with small cream buckets which we filled with matching flowers. We sat these at the base of the pillars and then they were going to be used as the table centrepieces. Also the arrangement which sat on the ceremony table was later used on the long top table.

We are very sorry that we have had to turn so many brides-to-be away because we are already booked for the date they are enquiring about. We love doing weddings more than anything else and to ensure that our brides receive our full professional attention, we like to do only one wedding per day. However, if we are already booked for your date we are more than happy to give any help and advice - not just with flowers - so just get in touch and we will help you all we can.

Sunday - Another bright, sunny day for Katie's wedding which was held at The Pavillion Hotel, Fulford.
Katie chose strong colours, blues, purples and pinks along with peacocks feathers for her wedding flowers and what a great choice that was - her flowers looked amazing.
Katie carried a hand-tied posy of anemones, ranuncula, hyacinths, cornflowers and roses for her bouquet. Tied with blue ribbon it looked beautiful.
For the oval shaped dining tables we filled chunky glass long slim tanks with the same flowers and tied a slim blue ribbon and peacocks feathers on the outside.
Katie kindly took the time to send us this email on her way to her honeymoon..........
"Thank you for the wonderful flowers, they all looked amazing and lots of people commented. The tables looked exactly as I had wanted them."

A fantastic wedding venue anyway, The Hospitium, York, looked even better in the beautiful sunshine last Saturday for Anne-Marie's wedding.
Anne-Marie loved ivy and knew that she wanted lots of it along with orchids for her wedding. From our emails and meetings with Anne-Marie she wanted lots of Singapore Orchids but luckily, when she came to see us at our studio and saw the Singapore Orchids she realised that she didn't like them at all and had in fact got mixed up with Phalanopsis orchids. This just goes to show how important it is to see samples of the flowers that your wedding florist is going to use. If we had not done this for Anne-Marie and delivered all her flowers using the wrong orchids it would have been dreadful.
The wedding ceremony was held in St Olaves Church, Marygate where we tied orchids and ivy onto the pew ends with white ribbons and made matching alter and pedestal arrangements.
The wedding reception held in The Hospitium, York Museum Gardens continued the theme of white orchids and ivy. The pillars were decorated with lights, flowers and foliage and we decorated the tables with a wicker ring wound with ivy sat round a candle with a few flower heads sat on top.

Last week's bride, Naomi, had chosen to carry a posy style hand-tied bouquet of small headed white flowers which included narcissi, roses, bouvardia, agapanthus and lily of the valley. Also included was a little wax flower and thistle. Naomi's bridesmaids carried similar but smaller bouquets.
All the buttonholes were really informal - all different to each other - and instead of being bound they were simply tied together with raffia.
Naomi's reception was held at The Merchant Adventurers Hall in York and we simply decorated the long top table with masses foliage including berried ivy and bay and nestled gysophyllia amongst it all.
It looked great. It was really good to meet up with our lovely friend, Photographer Ashley Nesbitt. Look out for images on his website.

Kate and Dave's wedding was our first of the year and their service and reception was at the wonderful Hospitium situated in the beautiful Museum Gardens, York.
Kate had chosen rich dark jewelled colours and carried a hand tied posy of flowers including purple anemones, calla lillies, thistles, hyacinths and "Black Jack" tulips.

The Groom wore a simple "Black Jack" Tulip buttonhole and bridesmaids carried posies of cream ranunculas and callas.

Kate and Dave had collected masses of green and variegated holly, with which we decorated the pillars in the ceremony room and also lay down the centre of the long dining tables along with fairy lights and flowers. We added holly with red berries, deep red roses and amaryllis. This looked really lush, full and opulent and the colours matched the room perfectly.
Kate and Dave had chosen our lovely friend, Photographer Georgina Harrison to take all their photos and it was great to see her friendly face when we delivered the bouquets to Guy Fawkes Hotel where Kate and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Keep a look out for images on Georgina's web site.

Really pleased to say that the cutest little creatures ever - Ethelanna Bunnies and Meeces are now available to buy on our website. As there has been such limited availability we know that everyone who collects these will be delighted and we have already sold many, especially the Christmasy ones. As each Bunnie and Meece is unique we are regularly updating the web-site so keep looking for new additions. Shortly there will be a collection of Ethelanna Bunnies and Meeces for weddings - brides, grooms, bridesmaids, sweeps etc and also for christenings - boys and girls.

Thanks to everyone who came to see us on our stand at York's Living North, Essence of Christmas Show. First time to be held at this venue and we really enjoyed meeting everyone and the show was a success for us and we will definitely be back next year. As with any new venture there was good and bad feedback from visitors, the bad mostly about how spread out everything is. We think this just goes to show how many exhibitors were there and I can't see how this issue can be changed - it's just the way York Racecourse is built, and the stands are on all floors in both the Knavesmire and Ebor Buildings. At least you can easily get from one to the other without even having to go outside.
As usual we had our "Ethelanna Bunnies and Meeces" for sale. One lady who fell in love with the image of an "Ethelanna Bunny" on Living North's Promotion Poster came especially from Pontefract to buy one. She nearly gave up looking for them as it was so busy on Saturday and was so thrilled when she eventually came across our stand. Fiona and I felt really quite honoured that someone should bother to come all that way especially to buy an Ethelanna. I'm sure they will take pride of place on her Christmas Tree.
Whilst on the subject of "Ethelanna Bunnies and Meeces" - good news is we will shortly be selling them online on this website along with our flowers, candles and fab new chocolates. They are not all just for Christmas, many can be displayed all year round and there will also be brides, grooms, bridesmaids and new baby bunnies and meeces.
No more shows for us now until next year. November/December is a really busy time for us. We already have orders for fresh door wreaths which we love making along with fresh flower arrangements. We also have lots of couples getting married at this time of year so as usual very busy with weddings up until Christmas and every weekend in January is booked with weddings - just goes to show how popular winter weddings are!

Monday 5th November 2012

Lovely Emma and Phil from Newcastle got married on Saturday at The Hospitium, York.
Emma had chosen ivory and mulberry for her colour scheme and carried a hand tied posy of ivory roses with mulberry coloured berries. She wanted quite a simple look with lots of twinkly fairy lights.
For Emma's wedding flowers at The Hospitium we used grass and mulberry coloured calla lilies in a fish bowl which sat on a round mirror surrounded by fairy lights for the table decorations and downstairs used foliage, lights and flowers on the pillars in the ceremony room and also decorated the stairs with our lights. The overall look was very tasteful and elegant.

Georgina Harrison was the photographer. We love Georgina. Have a look at her website soon as I'm sure images will be on her blog.
